After a long dreary winter we all look forward to the signs of spring. This includes the early blooming spring flower bulbs. But spring is not the time to think about planting them.
Spring flowering bulbs should be planted in the fall. If your starting a new garden you'll need to evaluate the site. Is there turf grass that needs to be removed? What about roots from nearby trees or shrubs? Is the soil rocky, clay, or sandy? Or maybe you want to do a raised bed garden. You'll want to have the garden bed prepared before the fall planting time.
