Dragon Lady Holly

Dragon Lady Holly: "Dragon Lady Holly

Ilex x aquipernyi is more commonly known as 'Dragon Lady', a striking name that may invoke vivid images Ð perhaps a strange lady that shouts at birds, and lives in a scary house set back from the road where the shutters are always drawn. That really is not the case though. This is not a scary plant by any stretch of the imagination, and is actually known for forming a tidy and organised pyramidal shape that in winter becomes a veritable berry-laden playground for many birds. It brings year-round glossy dark green spiky foliage to your landscape whilst being low maintenance and easy to shape if you desire; this holly really is an asset to any green space. Tall and slender, it can reach 20 feet high, with its rounded base measuring around six feet if you choose to leave it to its own devices. If you decide that the almost perfect pointed conical shape is not for you then a little effort can shape it to be more columnar; either way, the organised nature of its shape will add great interest to large beds and borders. Alternatively itÕs also an excellent hedging plant that can create shade and privacy for your property."

Hale Haven Peach Tree

Hale Haven Peach Tree: "Hale Haven Peach Tree

Nothing beats the taste of a quality peach picked ripe straight from the tree. This is a pleasure that is only available to you if you grow them yourself, because store peaches are picked while unripe so they will not bruise in shipping. The Hale Peach is renowned for its delicious flavor and it is also one of the very best peaches for colder regions, where other varieties may not do well. It grows especially well in zone 5 and is a great choice for the New England region, where it was produced originally. It ripens later in the season, so you will have peaches into the early fall to enjoy fresh, for pies, jams and preserves. This peach is an ideal choice for beginners as it is hardy, vigorous and disease-resistant.
