Today, I started back washing the pool and walked to the larger hole. I could see something in there but it moved when I approached. I stepped back and then looked again. Again, I could see the nose of something and it backed away. Then the water came and filled the hole.
A few minutes after shutting off the back wash I was walking near the hole and sitting there in the middle of it was a toad.
